Blue Belt

The blue belt represents the sky in which the the sprouting seed drives toward. This is the mid-point between the white belt, and the black belt. At least two years of experience is needed to reach the blue belt. This is also the point in Tae Kwon Do where power and strength in the tenets and techniques begin to stabilize. The majority of refinement needed to improve the basics has ended. A blue belt's basics should be solid and concrete. This enables the blue belt to have confidence in their techniques so that sparring, one steps, and two steps are simple tasks. This is the belt where board breaking also begins.

Joong Gun is the 6th form in the Pure Energy system. Joon Gun was the name of a man who fought and died for Korea's independence against the Japanese Empire. In 1905 Jun Gun sacrificed himself by sneaking into a well guarded railroad station and assassinated Hirobumi Itto. Hirobumi Itto was an important Japanese official who was involved with the invasion of Korea by Japan. Joon Gun was eventually arrested and executed at Lui-Shung prison. Joong Gun died at the age of 32.

Joong Gun contains 32 movements. The number of movements are symbolic of Joong Gun's age when he was executed. This form involves more practical movements which can be effective in sparring and self defense. These movements include front leg kicks, hand and foot combinations, and the more advanced pressing block.

The blue belt testing requires a student to execute their form, two steps, free sparring, and 1 single board break. The breaking of one board can be done with the hand or foot in this testing. The blue belt should decide which technique is more comfortable and use that for the break.
